PHOENIX, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Comerica Bank and storage and information management services company Iron Mountain Incorporated today announced that they will team up to host the first annual Shred Day Phoenix, a free document shredding event, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from 8am to 3pm. The secure document shredding event, to be held in front of Comerica Theatre on West Washington Street in downtown Phoenix, is offered as a public service to the Phoenix community and is designed to raise awareness of identity theft prevention, hunger and recycling.
Free of charge and open to the general public, the event will allow Phoenix consumers and business owners to securely destroy up to four boxes or bags of sensitive paper documents per vehicle. Additionally, volunteers from St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance will be onsite to collect suggested donations of non-perishable food items. One hundred percent of the paper collected at Shred Day Phoenix will be turned into pulp and recycled after being securely destroyed.
"Comerica Bank is thrilled to join Iron Mountain to help Valley residents and business owners protect themselves from identity theft and fraud by securely destroying sensitive paper documents for free at Shred Day Phoenix," said Annette G. Musa, Comerica Bank's Arizona Market President. And, since all paper collected and destroyed at the event will be recycled, we'll help reduce pollution, preserve landfill space and save trees. We encourage all area residents to do some 'financial fall cleaning' and to bring a suggested donation of two non-perishable food items to support the St. Mary's Food Bank and our local community."
Shred Day Phoenix marks the first community shredding event in the Arizona market hosted by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain. The two companies have hosted similar shredding events throughout Michigan, California and Texas. Two-time world record holders, Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain earned Guinness World Records® honors for the most paper collected and shredded in a single day at their Shred Day DFW event in North Texas in 2012 and again in 2014.
