Comerica has been named to LATINO Magazine's 2017 "LATINO 100" list, the fifth annual listing "of the top 100 companies providing the most opportunities for Latinos" in such areas as education, hiring, workforce diversity, minority business development, governance, and philanthropy. Comerica also was named to the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 lists.
Nominations to the publication were submitted "both formally and informally by Latino nonprofits and community organizations" as well as the publication's "readers, partners and stakeholders," according to the magazine's web site at latinomagazine.com.
The magazine indicated the following about Comerica:
"Comerica supports and promotes diversity, both internally withemployees, and externally with customers and suppliers through a number of initiatives. The Hispanic Diversity Initiatives are primarily focused on developing relationships with external Hispanic communities, while the Hispanic Ambassador Teams are primarily focused on the professional development of Comerica employees. The Hispanic Diversity Initiatives are crucial in helping Comerica develop an understanding of the Hispanic market and developing partnerships with key community and opinion leaders in the Hispanic community. The Hispanic Ambassador Teams serve as an at-large engagement of Comerica employees, who are interested in participating in activities on a volunteer basis to support the Hispanic Diversity Initiative. They support and participate in the outreach efforts and provide colleagues with opportunities for leadership, as well as both professional and personal development."
"We are pleased LATINO Magazine has once again recognized Comerica by including our bank on this prestigious list," said Monica L. Martinez, senior vice president and National Hispanic Business Affairs manager. "Our bank's longstanding commitment to diversity continues to be exemplified by our Hispanic outreach programs, as well as our other programs that enable us to make a positive difference for employees, customers and others in the communities where we operate."
LATINO Magazine is the flagship publication of the Austin, Texas-based Latino Publishing Group, which focuses on issues, politics and culture. LATINO Magazine is published quarterly "with a target audience of Latino opinion leaders, influencers, students, teachers, corporate executives, elected officials and members of Hispanic organizations."
