ALPFA Names Monica L. Martinez One of 50 Most Powerful Latinas

DALLAS, Sept. 28, 2020 – Comerica Bank’s Senior Vice President of National Community Affairs Monica L. Martinez has been named one of the nation’s “50 Most Powerful Latinas” in 2020 by the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA).

The list highlights the achievements of senior Latina executives from across the country leading Fortune 500 companies, departments or large private firms, and continue to serve as trailblazers for Latina professionals.

“To be recognized alongside these Latinas who continue to inspire and lead future women business leaders is truly humbling,” said Martinez. “I am proud of Comerica’s commitment to diversity that emphasizes the value of fostering relationships with community leaders, entrepreneurs, customers and nonprofits. I’m fortunate to collaborate with colleagues who work together in this important initiative to help better serve our communities.”

Martinez’s oversight includes the management of external community initiatives and partnerships, Comerica’s Diversity Business Resource Groups, corporate volunteer programing with a focus in low- and moderate-income communities and managing all aspects of the bank’s national Hispanic Business Development.

In the capacity of external Diversity director Martinez oversees 19 Business Resource Groups which support the bank’s diversity outreach across our primary markets. In addition, she works hand in hand with Comerica’s CRA market managers to identify Volunteer opportunities that support community outreach and financial education across Comerica's footprint. Her responsibilities also include developing and maintaining relationships with key community stakeholders nationwide and serving as a spokesperson for the bank.

Martinez joined Comerica in 2006 in support of the bank’s ongoing commitment to building strong relationships with Hispanic business owners, entrepreneurs and communities. Under her leadership, Martinez’ teams have reached many milestones including Comerica being named to the Hispanic Business Magazine’s Diversity Elite 60 list (in the top 10) in addition to being highlighted as the number one company for Supplier Diversity for two consecutive years. In addition, LATINA Style Magazine named Comerica as one of the top companies for Latinas to work.
