DETROIT/March 14, 2002 -- Ralph W. Babb, president and chief executive officer, Comerica Incorporated, (NYSE: CMA) today announced Susan R. Joseph will join the company March 25 as senior vice president and general auditor. Joseph also will join the corporation’s Management Council and will report to Babb.
Joseph, a CPA, joins Comerica from Ernst & Young, where she served as senior manager, Assurance and Advisory Business Services. In this position, Joseph specialized in the financial services industry and was responsible for managing internal and external audit engagements, as well as providing advice and assistance to clients on a variety of areas, including accounting and auditing issues, SEC filings, initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Joseph has held various positions in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services division since joining Ernst & Young’s Actuarial Benefits and Compensation Group in 1992.
Joseph holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics and masters degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. She is member of the Regional Advisory Committee of the Michigan Association of CPAs (MACPA) and is vice chair of the organization’s financial institutions task force. She also served as Ernst & Young's Detroit office leader of Women’s Initiatives.
