Comerica and Macomb Chamber Help Small Businesses Become Financially Savvy

DETROIT/April 28, 2005 - Comerica Bank and the Macomb Chamber of Commerce will host a three-part workshop to help small business owners gain greater understanding of their financial statements and how to use them in managing their businesses. The sessions will be held May 3, May 10 and May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the University Center Macomb Community College, located at 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township, Mich. A pre-workshop continental breakfast will begin at 8 a.m.

The Financial Savvy sessions are part of a comprehensive series of workshops sponsored by Comerica that are designed to help small business owners succeed.

Mark Hurst, CPA and partner of Plante & Moran, LLP and his colleagues from Plante & Moran will help small business owners learn how to effectively project and manage their cash flow, understand financial ratios, calculate break-even numbers, and address tax planning issues.

Cost for the workshop is $100 for Comerica customers and $125 for non-Comerica customers and $50 for each additional participant from the same company. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 1-800-829-5214 or by visiting www.comerica.com and clicking on "Small Business Workshops."
