Comerica Sponsors Innovation 2002; Provides Panelist for Capital Markets Overview Discussion

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz./April 8, 2002 -- Comerica (NYSE:CMA), a leading financial services company, announced today that its Technology and Life Sciences Division is one of the sponsors of Innovation 2002, a conference that brings together healthcare CEOs to discuss innovative services and information technology. The April 11-14 event was founded by PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP; Versant Ventures; and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

The Comerica-sponsored Capital Markets Overview panel, on April 12, will feature Parag Shah, head of Comerica's East Coast life sciences practice. Shah and other panelists will offer their comments on investing, lending and valuation, as they attempt to answer the question, "Will the recent resurgence of investor interest in service IPOs rub off on valuations of innovative private service and Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) companies?" Providing a "real world" view of the situation will be private and public CEOs, who will share their latest fund-raising experiences.

Comerica's national life sciences practice works with early- and late-stage technology companies in the healthcare arena, including medical device manufacturers and biotechnology firms. Shah's business and science background -- a master's degree in technology, management and policy, and a bachelor's degree in molecular biology -- allows Comerica to provide a depth of service to life sciences companies not typically found in the banking community.
