DALLAS/September 28, 2009 – Comerica’s commitment to diversity has been recognized by Hispanic Business Magazine, which ranks the Dallas-headquartered bank No. 5 in its annual "Top 60 Diversity Elite Scorecard.”
According to the September issue of Hispanic Business Magazine, consideration for the 2009 “Diversity Elite" involved analysis of more than 32 variables that measure a company’s commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity. Comerica received its highest marks from the publication in the categories of board; leadership and personnel; and supplier diversity.
“At Comerica it’s been our belief that a strong commitment to diversity must start with our leadership team,” said Linda Forte, Comerica Bank senior vice president of Business Affairs and chief diversity officer. “Therefore it is particularly gratifying to be recognized for having representation and a commitment to Hispanic and other minority employees at the highest levels of the organization, including our board.”
“In addition, we understand the challenges being faced by all suppliers in today’s economic environment, so it also means a great deal that we received a high grade for supplier diversity.”
To compile its 2009 Diversity Elite Scorecard, Hispanic Business Magazine reported contacting the top Fortune 1000 companies, American subsidiaries of Global 500 companies, and large U.S. public and private companies.
Comerica’s inclusion on the “Diversity Elite Scorecard” follows a recent announcement from LATINA Style Magazine, which ranked Comerica 23rd on its LATINA Style 50 Report. LATINA Style annually identifies American corporations that are providing the best career opportunities for Latinas.
“Maintaining and improving on our diversity commitment, requires meeting the expectations of the communities we serve,” said Monica Martinez, vice president of National Hispanic Business Affairs for Comerica Bank. “We are proud of our recent honors from nationally recognized publications like Hispanic Business Magazine and LATINA Style that help state our case for being the bank of choice in the Hispanic community.”
