DALLAS, TX (February 14, 2011) – The White Rock Lake Centennial Host Committee announced today that Comerica Bank will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration that runs from March to June, 2011. The celebration, a 100-day marathon of family-friendly events and activities organized by the Host Committee, a consortium of 22 nonprofits and lake user groups, will commemorate the 100th birthday of one of Dallas’ signature parks. Dallas icon Ebby Halliday who is also celebrating her 100th birthday, will serve as the honorary chair of the celebration.
“Comerica Bank is proud to serve as presenting sponsor for the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration,” said J. Patrick “Pat” Faubion, Texas Market President, Comerica Bank. “Centennial events will bring together North Texas communities to celebrate a momentous occasion in our region’s history. Not only will the festivities raise awareness of the lake and its many features, but the proceeds will help fund critical capital improvement projects, thereby improving and preserving the crown jewel of Dallas’s park system.”
The centennial celebration will feature a series of events and activities ranging from an online photo contest and Family Fun Weekends to sailing and rowing regattas, a fishing tournament, half marathon, “pup” rally and more. The 100-day celebration will end with a finale picnic at the Bath House Cultural Center and a concert at the Dallas Arboretum. For a complete listing of events, visit www.whiterockdallas.org/100.

Proceeds from the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration will help fund 10 high priority capital projects including hike and bike trail upgrades, reforestation, water quality improvements, a dog park renovation and building and furnishings upgrades to ensure that White Rock Lake remains a sustainable oasis for families throughout North Texas and beyond.
“Funds raised from the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration will help safeguard one of our city’s most precious resources,” said District 9 Dallas City Councilmember Sheffie Kadane. “Comerica Bank has a strong track record of community involvement, and their sponsorship will help benefit the lake and our community for years to come.”
