Comerica Colleagues Meet Volunteer Challenge
More Than 100,000 Volunteer Hours Donated Over Two-Year Period

DALLAS, Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Comerica employees achieved their goal of recording 100,000 volunteer hours by the end of 2010, donating 116,000 hours or $2.35 million worth of volunteer labor hours.

To achieve the 100,000 goal, Comerica colleagues volunteered their personal time at either Comerica-sponsored volunteer events or independent activities, such as serving on nonprofit boards or at community events.

One significant volunteer effort was Comerica's National Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, when Comerica Bank colleagues across the country reached out to show support for their communities.  More than 500 Comerica volunteers participated in 37 organized projects on Comerica's National Day of Service, including the Welcome Home a Hero program in Texas which encourages and supports our deployed military. The 150 to 275 troops who came through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that day were welcomed and thanked by Comerica colleagues.  In California, hundreds of volunteers packed food in food banks along the West Coast.  Michigan colleagues participated in events at several locations, including Ronald McDonald House and the Parade Company, which brings America's Thanksgiving Parade to the city of Detroit each year; while in Florida Comerica colleagues recorded nearly 180 hours of volunteer service across the state that day.  In total, Comerica colleagues gave more than 2,500 hours of vital community service on a single day.

In announcing the goal's achievement, Linda Forte, senior vice president of Business Affairs for Comerica, asked Comerica colleagues to continue their efforts in the coming year.  "When we first established the 10 x '10 Challenge, we knew that our employees were taking on more and more volunteer work in response to the challenging economy," Forte explained. "While the economy is starting to improve, times continue to be tough and we are asking our employees to give eight hours of their time this year to help others."

In addition to continuing to monitor and track volunteer hours, Forte says the bank also will focus on determining the impact of its employees' volunteer activities on the community.  For example, the bank will determine how many families have been fed based on the hours colleagues volunteer at food banks and how many children have benefited from tutoring.  Comerica colleagues track their hours on the bank's volunteer website, which also gives employees an opportunity to see upcoming volunteer activities and to sign up for those of interest to them.
