Comerica Bank Teams Up with Texas Comptroller to Help Return Unclaimed Property
Community Outreach Event to be Held at Comerica's NorthPark Banking Center

More Than $218 Million in Unclaimed Property Available in Dallas County Alone

DALLAS/February 17, 2011 – Comerica Bank, the largest U.S. bank headquartered in Texas, has teamed up with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to help citizens across Texas search for unclaimed property. Texans who think – or hope – that they might have money to be claimed will have a chance to search the Comptroller’s Unclaimed Property database at ClaimItTexas.org and start the claims process at a series of events hosted at Comerica Bank locations around Texas. The first event in North Texas will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 25, at Comerica’s NorthPark Banking Center (8850 Boedeker Street, on the corner of Park and Boedeker).

At the event, Comptroller employees will help citizens search for unclaimed property online at ClaimItTexas.org, fill out claim forms and answer questions about the unclaimed property program. After the event in Dallas, Comerica Bank and the Comptroller’s office plan to host similar events in Austin and Houston.

“We are proud to open our doors to Comptroller Combs’ staff to help citizens in the communities we serve find unclaimed money that is rightfully theirs,” said Pat Faubion, Comerica Bank’s Texas Market President. “So come to a participating Comerica location and find out if you are among the millions of Texans who have yet to recover their unclaimed property.”

Texas is holding more than $2.2 billion in cash and other valuables for their rightful owners; from forgotten utility deposits, insurance refunds, payroll checks, dividends, stocks, safety deposit boxes and other sources, and as many as one out of four Texans may have unclaimed property. According to the Comptroller’s office, more than $363 million in unclaimed property is due to residents in 12 North Texas counties, and more than $218 million to Dallas County residents alone.

“This is not the state’s money, it’s yours,” said Susan Combs, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. “It can make a difference, especially in these challenging economic times. Our search events with Comerica Bank will make it even easier for Texans to search for and claim their forgotten funds at ClaimItTexas.org.”
