DALLAS, May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Comerica Incorporated (NYSE: CMA) today announced that Curtis C. Farmer, 48, has been named Vice Chairman, The Retail Bank and Wealth & Institutional Management. Farmer is a member of Comerica's Management Policy Committee and reports to Ralph W. Babb, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

In August 2010, Comerica combined The Retail Bank and Wealth & Institutional Management leadership into one organization, led by Farmer, formerly the Executive Vice President, The Retail Bank and Wealth & Institutional Management. He is responsible for The Retail Bank, which includes Comerica's 444 banking centers (as of April 29, 2011) and Business Banking for small businesses, and Wealth & Institutional Management, which includes Private Banking, Comerica Asset Management, Comerica Securities, Comerica Insurance, Private Fiduciary Services and Institutional Trust. He also has responsibility for Corporate Marketing and Communications, and Corporate Quality Process.

Farmer joined Comerica as Executive Vice President, Wealth& Institutional Management, on Oct. 20, 2008, from Wachovia Corporation of Charlotte, N.C., where he most recently spent three years as Executive Vice President and Wealth Management Director of the Wealth Management segment. During his 23 years with Wachovia, he held a variety of positions of increasing scope and responsibility, including Senior Vice President and Managing Executive of Wachovia Trust Company; Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Director; and Senior Vice President and Managing Executive of Marketing and Strategic Planning.
Farmer earned a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, where he also earned his master's degree in Business Administration.
