San Jose, Calif./February 21, 2012 – San Jose Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen is spearheading Operation Prom Dress for the fourth year in a row and Comerica Bank has ten banking centers that will serve as drop-off locations.
“Last year was our first year participating in Operation Prom Dress and it was a great success,” said Julius Chiang, Regional Manager for Comerica’s Western Market Retail Division. “We received hundreds of prom dresses from our customers and employees that were provided to high school girls at no cost.”
Nguyen and her staff have collected more than 3,000 prom dresses over the past three years for students who would not have been able to afford a dress. The dresses can be new or gently worn and appropriate for high school students to wear to their proms this spring. Students who want to take home a dress don’t have to attend a San Jose school, which is why Comerica is collecting dresses at banking centers in cities outside of San Jose.
“We were thrilled to receive so many dresses donated at Comerica Banking Centers last year and are hoping for another great turnout,” said Nguyen. “We know Comerica has many generous customers and employees, so we can’t wait to see what dresses are donated this year.”
