Lake Orion High School Chorale Wins Comerica Bank Star Spangled Choir National Anthem Singing Contest
Lake Orion High School Chorale will receive a $5,000 grant and perform the National Anthem at Saturday’s Detroit Tigers game

DETROIT/Sept. 21, 2015 – Comerica Bank today announced the Lake Orion High School Chorale the winner of the Star Spangled Choir National Anthem Singing Contest. The choir will receive a $5,000 grant to support the choir, the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at the Detroit Tigers game this Saturday, Sept. 26 and 45 tickets to the game for friends and family.

Ritchie, president, Comerica Bank-Michigan. “Music connects people and we are proud to help support our metro Detroit musical talent as they continue to spread the joy of music across the community.”

The contest is part of Fan Appreciation Weekend at Comerica Park and local choir members’ ages 13 years or older submitted videos of their choirs singing the National Anthem. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges from the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank to narrow down the submissions to a top 10 and public voting determined the contest winner.

More than 24,000 votes were cast during the two-week public voting period for the Comerica Bank Star Spangled Choir National Anthem singing contest.  Dakota Mixed Varsity Choir finished in second place followed by Rochester College A Capella Chorus in third place.  This is the third year of the singing contest. The two previous years supported metro Detroit police officers, firefighters, military members and veterans.
