Comerica Bank is hosting a “Hometown Heroes” contest to honor first responders in southeast Michigan and is asking the community to nominate their own hero.
Community members can create a video explaining how a local police officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician (EMT) goes above and beyond in his/her service to the community. Police officers, firefighters and EMTs who protect and serve in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw or Livingston counties are eligible to win a $5,000 community grant from Comerica Bank to enrich their respective departments.
In addition to the community grant, the winner will be awarded 10 outfield box tickets and 50 pavilion tickets for the Saturday, Sept. 23 Detroit Tigers baseball game at Comerica Park. The first runner up will win six outfield box tickets and 30 pavilion tickets while the second runner up will be awarded 20 pavilion tickets.
“First responders put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe,” said Michael T. Ritchie, president, Comerica Bank-Michigan. “This contest gives Comerica and the community an opportunity to express our gratitude and allows our heroes to enjoy a special night at the ballpark.”
All videos must be submitted from a registered YouTube account through the official Hometown Heroes tab on Comerica’s Facebook page before 11:59 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17.
A panel of judges from the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank will select finalists to showcase on Comerica Bank’s Facebook page for public voting.
The public can vote for their favorite hero from Monday, Aug. 28 through Friday, Sept. 8. The contest winner will be announced on Monday, Sept. 11.
