Detroit, November 20, 2023 – Comerica Bank has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces. The list is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization: including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.
“We are honored to be recognized among the top places to work here in Michigan,” said Steve Davis, Comerica Bank Michigan Market President. “We value our employees and continue to diligently build a culture and an environment that fosters commitment, innovation, teamwork and resolve on how we serve our valued customers, incredible communities, and fellow colleagues with a common purpose.”
As a first-year Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces Award winner, Comerica ranked in the Top-25 among large companies that operate with more than 500 employees.
Comerica employs approximately 4,500 employees throughout Michigan and is the largest employer in Metro Detroit among financial institutions. Throughout the state, Comerica employs 56% of its worldwide workforce of approximately 7,500 colleagues. In the five-county Southeast Michigan region (Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties), Comerica employs more than 4,200 colleagues, which equates to 56% of the bank’s entire workforce.
In Detroit, Comerica is the city’s largest with more than 800 colleagues at the bank’s Michigan Market Headquarters (Comerica Bank Center located at 411 Lafayette) and through Detroit’s largest banking center network consisting of 19 locations.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
In each of the past two years, Forbes has named Comerica among the Top 35 companies on its list of Best Employers in Michigan, and Comerica was ranked the highest among banks in the state for 2023.
Among the characteristics that define the colleague experience includes the passionate contributions Comerica colleagues give back to the communities they serve. Through the Comerica Cares volunteer program, employees exemplify one of Comerica Bank’s core values, “A Force for Good,” by offering their time and talent to community partners and nonprofits such as participating on boards, conducting financial education training sessions or providing services requested by local community groups.
Last year, colleagues in Michigan volunteered over 40,000 hours supporting their communities, and the Comerica Cares volunteer program was nationally recognized by the American Bankers Association (ABA) as a 2023 ABA Foundation Community Commitment Award recipient.
